To all the dedicated InSong team, I want to say 'thank you' for leading us all to a few thin places (holy places) today:
First, seeing the older people of Quesnel, some of them Veterans, standing strong in the rain to honor the memory of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, was inspiring.
Second, the singing inside The United Church where we got to hear the wonderful story shared by a priest of the buried soldier and the 'boundaries' of the church being enlarged to welcome those who God welcomes. Many people who generally don't go to church were there today, tearing up to the songs sung by InSong.
One of my favorite songs sung today was: "Inscription of Hope" by Z. Randall Stroope. It was based on words found scrawled on a cellar wall by Jews hiding from the Nazis in Cologne, Germany during the Second World War. The lyrcis read:
I believe in the sun, even when it is not shining,
and I believe in love, even when there’s no one there.
And I believe in God, even when He is silent;
I believe through any trial, there is always a way.
But sometimes in this suff’ring and hopeless despair,
My heart cries for shelter, to know someone’s there.
But a voice rises within me saying hold on my child,
I’ll give you strength, I’ll give you hope,
Just stay a little while.
Third, and most importantly, thank you for leading us all to honor the life of 94 year old Mrs. Rose and to sing for her at her senior residence. I heard that she helped organize the choir. That is what life is about: sharing life, manifesting our God-given gifts and honouring the lives of those who have given themselves to our community and continue to dwell among us.
Thanks again InSong team for the countless hours of work, for the grace extended answering the same questions over and over again, for the patience running around to meet last minute kids' needs, and for the big commitment that is necessary to make events like today happen where many lives are touched and enriched.
Que encanto de gente!
